Day 1: Auckland *(D)

Welcome to Auckland ‘The City of Sails', New Zealand's largest city and the international gateway for all flights arriving from northern hemisphere.

Your tour guide will welcome you at the Auckland Airport arrivals. You will then continue on to the Copthorne Hotel in Parnell to freshen up before spending the afternoon enjoying some of our southern ocean marine life at Kelly Tarlton’s underwater world.

This evening is free to relax and settle in.

Accommodation:  Copthorne Hotel, Auckland.

Day 2: Auckland  *(B, D)

Today we depart for the lovely Whangaparaoa Peninsula. Whangaparaoa meaning “Bay of whales” as orca and other whales are often spotted off the coast. Take a walk along our sandy beaches, maybe a swim in shallow waters.

Heading back to Auckland we stop to discover the great names of New Zealand's aviation and motor history at the Museum of Transport and Technology (Motat for short). We then head to the high street stores of Queen Street and Newmarket, where you will find boutiques featuring many New Zealand designers such as Karen Walker, Andrea Moore, Anna.S and more.  Following that we visit the Auckland Railway Station and view the magnificent Maori Waka Canoe.

We shall make our way up Auckland’s Skytower, the southern hemispheres tallest building at 328 meters, offering breathtaking views for up to 80 kilometres in every direction on a clear day. Have a go at beating the machines in the casino before heading back up the tower for a buffet dinner!

Accommodation:  Copthorne Hotel, Auckland.

Day 3: Auckland – Christchurch *(B, D)

This morning we fly to Christchurch 'the garden city'.  Freshen up at the hotel, and visit Ferrymead Heritage Village for a trip back to the Edwardian times, with steam trains and an early settlement township.

A unique way to view the heart of Christchurch city is to ride through the city centre in our delightful restored vintage trams, then stroll around the beautiful gardens the people of this city are so proud of.  Enjoy dinner in the hotel restaurant before taking a night sightseeing tour around Christchurch.

After freshening up at the hotel, we will board the historical steamship ‘The TSS Earnslaw’ on which we will cruise part of Lake Wakatipu and view the spectacular scenery.   A delicious lunch will be served onboard.  ‘The TSS Earnslaw’ is one of the last remaining, coal fired, passenger-carrying vessels, operating in the southern hemisphere.

Back in Queenstown, we venture up the mountain via the Skyline Gondola taking in the stunning 220 degree views.
